My Fabulous Weekend: Bookbinding Class, Designing Party Favors & New Jewelry

Hi Loves! I hope each one of you had a great 3-day weekend filled with awesome sauce and laughter! 🙂

Bookbinding 1Bookbinding Class

I started my weekend on Saturday at Paper Source in a two hour bookbinding class. It was my first bookbinding class although I make books (see Etsy) and it was a blast! Picking out pretty paper, cloth and getting crafty are things I love to do but don’t get to do much. The books I have made are soft cover and we learned in class how to do hardcover bookbinding.

Paper Source has some great papers to choose from. So much so that I had to choose twobook front papers for my book. One for the front and one for the back. The instructor said I was the first to in her class to ever design a book with two papers. So do I get an A for creativity?…Ha!

There were four other ladies in the class, one mother-daughter team. I thought it was wonderful to see both of them enjoying the class. What a great idea for bonding. I don’t think my mother would be up for a bookbinding class. But I’d love it if she were.

Book BackWe were given choices for the paper that we could use (included in the materials fee) and each book came out so different. It reflected each persons unique style. Of course, mine is pink cherry blossoms, gold polka dots, and a pink spine. I love pink. And pink and grey (silver) or pink and gold are my favorite color combinations. I decorate my tree each year with these colors. Pictured is my finished masterpiece front and back. What do you think? Keep in mind I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my…designs! What did you think I was going to say. Hehehe.

Designing Party Favors

party favors 2You can tell from the bookbinding class that I LOVE paper and stationery. So when I get a chance to use my creativity and love of paper to design some party favors, I’m all for it. I was asked to design some Japanese themed party favors for a client. At first she wanted gift tags for chocolates she was going to wrap in an organza bag. But it is my job as a creative to provide more possibility than the obvious. So I designed a card that would hold chopsticks for her guests (chopsticks being the gift) and would also double as a nice bookmark. I delivered them on Sunday and she loved them. I am so happy when my clients are happy.

New Jewelry

Have you ever found yourself wearing the same pieces of jewelry day after day? Well Weekendthat is the spot I am in. The sad thing is, I have so much jewelry. Most of the necklaces are tangled and it takes forever to untangle them. I’m currently working on a fix for that but I thought that I would add some new pieces to my collection. Since Nordstrom Rack was having a sale, why not?

When I was picking out the pieces I loved, I came across the orange BLESSED bracelet. I had to have it! This is so much more than a bracelet. Its a confirmation of how Blessed I am and how far I’ve come. Do you have something that reminds you of how blessed you are? A quote? A piece of jewelry? A friend? We all must remember that we are blessed. Depending on the season you are in, you may not feel that way. But trust me it can always be worse and it will always get better.

XOXOXO
